When Choosing an Acoustical Consultant

  1. Does the acoustical consultant have a degree in Engineering?
  2. What was the acoustical training of the consultant?
  3. How many classes in Acoustics has the consultant completed?
  4. What is the experience of the consultant?
  5. Does the consultant have computer modeling experience?
  6. Has the consultant ever performed acoustical tests in a
    certified acoustical laboratory?
  7. Does the acoustical consultant belong to any professional associations?
  8. Does their level of membership require proof of technical capability and or a professional recommendation, or are they just required to pay dues?

Also, something else to consider when choosing an acoustical consultant………just because one consultant has a lower hourly rate than another, the total fee for his services may not be less expensive. It just may take him longer to complete the project. It is never wise to choose consultants on an hourly rate.
